Veterans Field Guide to Government Shutdown Available Online

OMAHA – In the event of a federal shutdown, most Department of Veterans Affairs services will still be available. However, it’s important that Veterans know what's been impacted.

All VA medical facilities and clinics will remain fully operational, including:

  • Inpatient care
  • Outpatient care
  • Prescriptions
  • Surgeries
  • Dental treatment
  • Extended care
  • Mental health care
  • Nursing home care
  • Special health care services for women veterans

The VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System proudly serves more than 167,660 veterans in Nebraska, western Iowa and portions of Kansas and Missouri. Omaha’s medical center is an inpatient facility and also a large outpatient clinic for primary and specialty care. The Community Living Center is in Grand Island.
