VA Nebraska-Western Iowa HCS to Offer COVID-19 Vaccines to Veterans, Veteran Spouses, and Veteran Caregivers during April 7 Vaccination Station at Norfolk National Guard Readiness Center
Released by Kevin Hynes
April 2, 2021 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OMAHA, Neb. – VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System will be offering COVID-19 Vaccinations to Veterans, Veteran Spouses and Veteran Caregivers during an April 7 Veterans COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Station set for the Norfolk National Guard Readiness Center. The vaccination station is set to run from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
This will mark the third time that the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System has conducted a Veterans COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Station at the Norfolk National Guard Readiness Center since January. This will mark the first time, however, that VANWIHC is able to offer COVID-19 vaccinations to an expanded group of people based upon the recently enacted SAVE LIVES Act, which was signed into law by President Biden on March 24.
This includes those Veterans who were unable to receive the COVID-19 vaccine from the VA due to previous eligibility criteria.
For those Veteran spouses interested in receiving the COVID-19 Vaccine through the VA, you are encouraged to download the SAVE LIVES Vaccination Worksheet prior to arriving at the Vaccination Clinic and filling in the upper third of the form. Veteran spouses can download this form at https://www.knowva.ebenefits.va.gov/img/hrc/SAVE%20LIVES%20Act%20Vaccination%20Worksheet.pdf. Spouses can also receive this form by calling our Eligibility and Enrollment Office between 8 a.m. thru 4 p.m., Mondays thru Fridays, at (402) 995-4050 or 1-800-451-5796 option No. 4.
Due to the limited ability to provide vaccine on a walk-in basis, Veterans, Veteran spouses, and Veteran caregivers are encouraged to call (402) 370-4570 for an appointment at the Norfolk mass vaccination station. Due to increased call volume, please expect to go through the call center to assist with scheduling in Norfolk.
The Veterans COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Station at the Norfolk National Guard Readiness Center is part of an ongoing partnership between VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System and the Nebraska National Guard to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to Veterans living in rural parts of Nebraska. To date, a total of five Veterans COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Stations have been conducted at Nebraska National Guard readiness centers.
VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System has also partnered with local community organizations to conduct similar efforts at other locations across Nebraska and Western Iowa.
