Nebraska VA Health System Associate Director Retires


OMAHA, Neb. — The associate director for operations at the Department of Veterans Affairs Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System retired Nov. 2 after nearly 32 years of service.


Nancy Gregory has been the associate director since October 2003 at the health care system that serves Veterans in 104 counties across Nebraska, western Iowa, Kansas and Missouri. During that time, she also served as the acting director from April 1, 2011, to Jan. 14.


Eileen Kingston was appointed acting associate director for operations while NWIHCS continues recruitment. She has been the associate director for patient care/nurse executive since 1996.


Prior to Gregory’s appointment at NWIHCS, she served as the executive assistant to the director and then chief operating officer for the former VA Central Plains Network. She also served as the staff assistant to the director for the VA Central Iowa Health Care System. Gregory was also the chief, Nutrition and Food Service at the Des Moines, Iowa, VA Medical Center.


Gregory has a Master of Science Degree in Nutrition Education from Boston University, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition and Food Service Management from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.


Gregory is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and is a member of the Heartland Healthcare Executive Group. She also volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America.
