NEWS RELEASE: Veterans Affairs to Host Veterans Appreciation Evening Aug. 18 w/Omaha Storm Chasers
August 13, 2014
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
OMAHA, Neb., – The VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System will host a Veterans Appreciation Event Aug. 18 at Werner Park, 12356 Ballpark Way, Papillion, Neb., in partnership with the Omaha Storm Chasers baseball game.
The event serves two purposes: it is an evening to salute veterans, military and National Guard for their service to the nation and to thank their families for supporting their loved ones.
The event includes many VA and veteran-services information booths inside the ballpark. The goals are to increase awareness about VA benefits and services that Veterans may be eligible for and how to access them.
Non-VA agencies that provide veteran-related services will also have booths, including area universities, veteran service organizations and the Nebraska Army National Guard Family Program Office.
Thirty veterans will receive Quilts of Valor during the event. The quilts are handcrafted by a local quilters’ guild to honor the recipients’ service in the military.
The Omaha Storm Chasers are offering the following special on tickets for the event: active-duty, reserve, Guard, veterans (and immediate family members when accompanied by a military member or veteran) can purchase tickets for the game for $7 by Aug. 15. The first 280 people who contact the Omaha Storm Chasers by close of business Aug. 15 can buy one ticket and get the second free. To receive this special, contact Alex at 402-738-5112 or email email@example.com. Military and veterans who purchase game tickets the day of the game will receive a ticket discount.
The game starts at 7:05 p.m.
