Print Version (PDF)

OMAHA, Neb. Marci Mylan, PhD, Director of the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System, announced today that she will leave her position to return to clinical and academic work as a psychologist at the Minneapolis VA medical center.

Mylan is expected to leave her position as director in mid-September.

The Midwest Health Care Network will announce an acting director before Mylan departs. The process for selecting a new director will begin soon.

Mylan was appointed director for VA NWIHCS Jan. 15, 2012. She previously served as associate director at the VA Minneapolis Health Care System since July 2007.

“It has been my privilege to serve Veterans here at NWI these last few years,” Mylan said. “We have exceptional people, taking diligent care of Veterans.  I have never seen a group of people more committed to getting it right than the marvelous staff here.  From housekeeping to surgery, our employees at NWI are committed to assure the best care for Veterans.”

Mylan received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the College of Saint Catherine and her master’s and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from Northern Illinois University. In 1987, she completed a post-doctoral fellowship in clinical psychology from the University of California at Berkeley.  More recently Mylan completed a master’s in health care administration from Baylor University (the U.S. Army Baylor Program at Fort Sam Houston).
