NEWS RELEASE: Mark Twain to appear at Grand Island VA

March 17, 2014

Print Version (PDF)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

GRAND ISLAND, Neb., – Wally Seiler of Alliance, Neb., will present "Mark Twain on the Lecture Circuit" March 21 at the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System, 2201 N. Broadwell Ave., Grand Island.

The presentation, which will be held in the third floor dining hall, will begin at 2:30 p.m. Veterans and their family members are invited.

During the program, Seiler, dressed as Twain, will recreate the spirit and feeling of the lectures by which Twain captivated audiences throughout the United States and Europe during the noted author's later years.

Seiler has presented his program throughout the United States and once won a nationwide Mark Twain look-alike contest and, as a result, served as the host of the Calaveras Jumping Frog Jubilee in Angels Camp, California. This event capitalizes on one of Twain's best-loved stories, The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.

This presentation is made possible by Humanities Nebraska, the Nebraska Cultural Endowment, and VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System as part of the HN Speakers Bureau.
