Why the VA: I did my ambulatory care rotation at the Lincoln VA and I was amazed by the level of autonomy pharmacist have. I also love the patient population that the VA serves.

Favorite thing about LVA that I didn’t know before the match: How closely providers and pharmacists work together. Providers seem to really value pharmacists input and are very receptive to pharmacist recommendations.

Research Project: Deprescribing Campaign with VISN23 VA Healthcare System

Career Interests: I hope to get a clinical position as an ambulatory care pharmacist. Eventually I would like a 50/50 clinical and academia position.

What I enjoy about Lincoln: I really enjoy the college sports atmosphere Lincoln has. If you enjoy any kind of sports entertainment, Lincoln is 100% the place to be.

Hobbies: Playing/watching sports, outdoor activities, traveling, cooking, spending time with family and friends

College: University of Nebraska – Lincoln

Why the VA: PGY1 Residency Program at the VA is designed to develop clinical pharmacists with high levels of skills required to manage patient care as a member of interdisciplinary teams. Pharmacists at the VA have been working in collaborative practice models and are given great autonomy to make clinical decisions on patients’ behalf. My clinical interest is ambulatory care. The VA offers many opportunities focusing on ambulatory care experiences. Moreover, working with the vets is incredibly humbling, given their past experiences and exposures.

Favorite thing about LVA that I didn’t know before the match:  The people at the LVA. Everyone is so friendly and helpful.

Research Project: Pre-diabetes reverse order QI project

Career Interests: Ambulatory Care

What I enjoy about Lincoln:  I enjoy everything about Lincoln. Lincoln is a very safe and peaceful city. I have been living here pretty much my entire life. It is very family-oriented, a great place to start a family.

Hobbies:  Hiking, swimming, hanging out with friends and family.
