More than 12,000 Veterans are treated for diabetes across VA NWIHCS. Through education, diabetes educators are teaching Veterans how to cope with the disease, which makes it difficult for the body to manage glucose.
VISN 23 facilities identify and treat Veterans with hepatitis C. Those requiring intervention decreased from 3,724 in March 2015 to 1,671 in February 2016. Treatment can rid Vets of the virus and improve quality of life
VA NWIHCS' Veterans Justice Outreach social workers reach out to justice-involved Veterans to help them with re-entry into society after incarceration. Social workers help them access health care and other benefits.
